We support young people who need a nurturing environment, where they can develop their independent living skills. Many of our care leavers may need accommodation due to:
· Emotional, physical, sexual abuse or neglect
· Traumatic experiences
· Risk of homelessness
· Criminal and/or sexual exploitation
· Mental health issues
· Substance misuse issues
· Emotional and behavioural issues
· Unaccompanied asylum seeking child (UASC)
We recognise that unaccompanied asylum seeking children have very specific cultural and language needs and therefore we provide additional support for them at no extra cost. Our enhanced support package includes:
· Joined up working with community projects for asylum seekers
·Outcome and action focused support, particularly around cultural and religious needs
·Support with legal and immigration processes
·Support to access services e.g. GPs, Dentists and integrate into the community
We work closely with the allocated Social Worker/Personal Advisor and other relevant professional involved with the young person to develop their pathway plan.
The pathway plans are outcome based and cover 5 core areas:
Independent living
Education, Employment and Training (EET)
Safety and security
Health and wellbeing
Financial stability
Key work sessions are developed around the pathway plans. These are delivered in creative and meaningful ways by our experienced and knowledgeable staff team to promote the young people’s engagement/co-production and ability to achieve their goals.
